How many times I prayed “Help me follow you, Lord.”
Last night at Bible Study Time, I was challenged to be more than a follower. I pictured a follower as one with the group but like a child easily distracted by the things around me.
The challenge was to strive together for the faith.
Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
As I thought about striving and working together, this scripture came to mind also:
Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
I see striving is a lot of work but oh, the prize!
Please, Lord, help me to strive.
